One of my favourite things to do at events held under the Chatham House Rule is to break it.

Well, for my presentation, anyway.
Not because I’m against the rule, but because it doesn’t work for me.

For most people, it encourages them to speak candidly because it protects them: their ideas can be shared, but not their identity.
In my case, the Chatham House Rule poses a problem; I work for myself. My ideas and ways of thinking are the best marketing tool for what I do. I want them out there, and I want them associated with me.
So I now begin any presentation I give at an event held under the Chatham House Rule by explicitly disapplying it for my session.
Which, perfectly on brand for what I do, makes me the exception that proves the rule.
